Sevilla

We flew out of DFW late in the afternoon on our way to Madrid.  After a very brief stop we flew to our home for the next 4 nights in Sevilla.

We’re staying in the old town so everything we want to do is in walking distance.  Narrow alleyways wind through the area serving both pedestrians, motorcyclists, and cars.  We walked about ten minutes to get to the largest wooden sculpture in the world, Setas de Sevilla, or the Mushroom. This obviously attracts tourists and locals alike with people relaxing on the stairs and also the plaza area.  A woman on a portable electric piano entertained the crowd.  A hotel rooftop bar across from it afforded views of the city.

Two of the most popular shopping streets, Sierpes and Tetuan, lay just beyond and was our next destination.  Shops lined the pedestrian streets offering clothing, shoes, food, and entertainment.  We mostly window shopped except for a purchase at my favorite Spanish shoe brand, Pikolenos.

Between these two streets was plaza de San Francisco.  We stopped at an outdoor cafe for a bite to eat and some great people watching.  The sun was getting low in the sky so we started making our way back to our hotel for some much needed rest.

Tomorrow: Exploring more of the city
